About

About FitnessGuides

FitnessGuides is a set of plain-language guides on exercise and training. Each article takes one question people search for, such as how much cardio is enough or how to restart after a break, and gives a direct answer first.

The goal is clearer routines and fewer confusing fitness myths, with honest notes on what a general guide cannot cover.

FitnessGuides is a research-based reference: the guides draw on published guidance from public health bodies and are checked and corrected over time. We do not claim professional credentials. See how we check our guides for the process.

How to read the guides

The guides are general educational information, not medical advice, and they cannot account for your own history, medications or circumstances. Exercise carries some risk of injury, and what is appropriate depends on your health, age, injuries and experience, so start gently and adjust. Talk to a qualified clinician about your own situation, especially before starting a new programme if you have a medical condition, are recovering from injury or have been inactive for a long time. Stop and seek medical advice if you feel unwell during exercise. In an emergency, call your local emergency services (in the US, 911); if you are in a mental-health crisis in the US, call or text 988. Each guide starts with a direct answer and then explains the reasoning and the limits, so read past the first paragraph before acting on it.
